Cut into the cliff between Positano and Praiano, Gavitella Beach is accessed via a narrow concrete staircase of approximately 250 steps, supplemented by a small mechanical lift operated by the beach concession below. The combination of steep access and its location between two more famous towns keeps Gavitella well below the radar of most Amalfi Coast visitors. The beach itself is a narrow pebble and rock platform with excellent water clarity and fine snorkelling among the underwater rocks. A small bar-restaurant provides refreshments, and the view back up the cliff face to the houses of Praiano above is genuinely striking.

Marina di Praia, Praiano

A tiny fishing harbour tucked into a narrow valley between vertical rock walls just east of Praiano, Marina di Praia is one of the Amalfi Coast's most atmospheric and least-visited coves. A handful of fishing boats are pulled up onto the pebble beach, a simple restaurant serves fresh fish directly from the catch, and the narrow slot of sky visible between the cliff faces creates an effect of dramatic enclosure that is unlike anything else on the coast. The beach is small and the facilities minimal, but as an authentic glimpse of the Amalfi Coast's fishing heritage — unchanged in character for centuries — it is irreplaceable.

Duoglio Beach, Amalfi

A ten-minute walk west from Amalfi's ferry terminal along a coastal path, Duoglio is a small beach concession that most visitors to the town never discover despite its proximity. The path is signposted but easy to miss amid the ferry crowds, and the result is a beach that is noticeably quieter than the main Amalfi town beach even at the height of summer. The water here is particularly clear — benefiting from the rocky bottom and slight distance from the harbour — and the beach bar serves good food at prices that reflect the reduced footfall. An excellent option for Amalfi town visitors who want to escape the midday crowds without travelling far.
