Phaselis, the Lycian-Roman city 45 kilometres south of Antalya, is most visited between 10 AM and 4 PM when tour buses arrive from the resort strip. Arriving early — before 9 AM, when the park gates open — gives access to the ancient city and its north harbour bay in near solitude: pine forest quiet, the ruins still in shadow, and the bay mirror-calm. The north harbour, used for small vessels in the ancient period, is a shallow, sheltered inlet ideal for swimming, and in the early morning the only sound is birdsong and occasional dripping from the ancient aqueduct above the path.

Kemer Çamyuva

Çamyuva is a residential resort village 5 kilometres south of Kemer, less developed than the main Kemer resort strip and with a local rather than tourist-facing character. The beach is a long, coarse sand and pebble arc backed by apartment buildings and small hotels rather than the all-inclusive mega-resorts of Lara and Belek. The water is clear, the Taurus Mountains rise immediately behind, and the atmosphere is considerably quieter than the main resort areas. Çamyuva is popular with Turkish families who prefer a self-catering apartment holiday to the all-inclusive model.

Tekirova (30 km South of Kemer)

Tekirova is a small village 30 kilometres south of Kemer where the road narrows and the Taurus Mountains press close to the sea. The village beach is a long pebble arc with a handful of small pansiyons and restaurants, and the wild camping area at the southern end is one of the few places on the Mediterranean coast where camping directly on the beach remains possible. The Chimera fire (Yanartaş) — a natural eternal flame on the hillside above Tekirova — is 20 minutes' walk and provides an extraordinary nocturnal experience for those staying in the village.
